Our 7-Step Akuna Pet Resort process means that you get away on your holiday relaxed, without all those last minute worries that often accompany a Dog boarding service. Book a chauffeured collection to our pet resort from Sydney, Newcastle, the Hunter Valley or Central Coast, or bring your four-legged friend here yourself.

1. Enquiry & Inspections

If your dog hasn’t been to Akuna Pet Resort before, you will no doubt have questions. Many of the answers will be found on our FAQ page. You may also want to visit our resort-style dog boarding kennels to see for yourself that the reality matches the pictures.

We are pleased to welcome you for a visit any time although we do not conduct inspections on the same day that your dog is booked in for a holiday. Dogs settle so much better if they say goodbye at the office, rather than thinking you will be checking into the pet hotel with them.

2. Booking

You can book pet hotel accommodation and a care package with a phone call or email. Alternatively, use our online booking form. We do not require a deposit, as we understand that you would only cancel your dog boarding reservation if you have an emergency. We pride ourselves on making holidays easier, not more difficult.

We have 80 individual resort-style dog kennels including 12 kennels with air conditioning. For busy periods such as Christmas and school holidays, please book your dog boarding several months in advance to avoid disappointment.

3. Pick-Up

If you wish, we will collect your dog from your home in Sydney, Newcastle, the Hunter Valley or Central Coast and transport it to our pet resort dog boarding kennels. Pick up is usually between 6am to 8am Monday to Friday, depending on your location. Your dog will travel in a modern Mercedes van in a secure personal travel section and in air-conditioned comfort.

The chauffeur who collects your dog will check that your paperwork is all in order regarding pet and client info forms, contact details, delivery home date and up to date vaccinations.

If you are driving your dog to our pet resort, follow the directions on our contact page or put the address into your GPS which will bring you straight to our door. Upon arrival we’ll check the paperwork regarding dates and vaccinations on arrival; otherwise the chauffeur who collects your dog will check these details.

4. First Day

When your dog arrives at Akuna Pet Resort, it will be weighed and taken to the boarding kennels to be introduced to its hotel room and new back yard. We weigh all dogs as part of our commitment to their good health, and food portions are given according to their weight, rather than guesswork. We’ve all heard stories about dogs that return from dog boarding kennels much thinner than they arrived, so we carefully monitor your dog’s weight and food portions during its stay.

5. Relax & Have Fun

Our pet hotel is located on 10 wonderful Hunter Valley acres and your dog will be eager to explore—even city dogs from Sydney love our pet resort’s bush walks and dam time. Depending on the care package you have selected, there will be a variety of fun and activity. Best of all, you can check out your dog’s happy face on Instagram, which your whole family will love to see while you are on holiday, particularly if you have young children.

6. Ready To Go Home

When home time comes around, your dog will enjoy a warm hydro-bath and blow-dry, in our dedicated spa room. Toys and bedding from home are gathered up and we also record your pet’s checkout weight.

7. Returning Home

You can collect your cuddly canine from Akuna Pet Resort, or book our chauffeur service for delivery back to your home in Sydney, Newcastle, the Hunter Valley or Central Coast. We will call or email you the day before to confirm drop off time.
